The Experimental Center of the School of Materials Science and Engineering was established in 2013, formed by the merger of laboratories dedicated to various majors. Currently, the Experimental Center consists of four professional laboratories: Metal Materials Engineering Laboratory, Material Forming and Control Engineering Laboratory (Workshop), Material Physics and New Energy Materials Laboratory, and Inorganic and Powder Materials Engineering Laboratory, as well as a large scientific precision instrument sharing platform. The Experimental Center has a total of 11 professional and technical personnel (including one part-time). The main distribution of the Experimental Center is located on floors 1-4 of the Material Building, floors 1-2 of the South Annex Building, floor 1 of the North Annex Building, and the Forming Workshop, with a total area of approximately 4000m2.
In recent years, with the support of multiple projects funded by the Ministry of Education for improving basic school conditions for central-level ordinary universities, as well as funding for engineering certification and first-class specialty construction for various majors, the Experimental Center has updated and purchased nearly a hundred pieces of professional equipment, greatly improving the experimental conditions for undergraduate teaching. Currently, there are a total of nearly 650 sets of professional experimental equipment.
The Experimental Center mainly undertakes professional experimental courses for the entire college and sister colleges, as well as provides scientific research testing services for the entire college. It also offers limited access to some testing instruments to the entire university. In addition, the laboratory training for undergraduate graduation design, innovation and entrepreneurship programs, and various professional competitions are also completed in the Experimental Center. The Experimental Center of the School of Materials Science and Engineering has achieved round-the-clock open service, providing strong support for undergraduate teaching and research work in thecollege.
