On September 15, 2023, Zhang Lianmeng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief professor of Wuhan University of Technology, was invited to give an academic report titled "Comparative Analysis and Strategic Thinking on Development of Advanced Ceramics and Base Composites at Home and Abroad". The report was chaired by Ji Yihong, member of the Standing Committee of the School Party Committee and vice president of the university.
During the report, Professor Zhang combined application fields and industry status to analyze the important strategic position of advanced ceramics and their composites. He focused on comparing the development status of related advanced ceramic powders and their products both domestically and internationally, and provided an analysis of the current situation of supporting ceramics and devices. From multiple dimensions such as demand, market trends, product level, and core technology, Professor Zhang combed through the current situation and challenges faced in China's relevant fields, deeply analyzed key issues that urgently need breakthroughs, and proposed strategic thinking and suggestions for development. Additionally, Professor Zhang encouraged the audience, including teachers and students, to embrace the importance of national interests, respect science, and pursue innovative solutions. The content of his report was scientifically rigorous, informative, and engaging, showcasing the scientific and educational accomplishments of Professor Zhang as well as his admirable personal charisma.
During the report, Vice President Ji Yihong pointed out that Professor Zhang's report was rich in content and provided important inspiration for scientific innovation research. The academic report was attended by nearly 300 representatives from Professor Yu Qijun, Professor Wu Yucheng, the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, as well as other relevant disciplines.
