On June 28-29, the first Academic Exchange Conference(2023) on Nuclear Materials and Engineering (Hefei University of Technology - Forschungszentrum Juelich), co-sponsored by our University and the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in our university through a combination of online and offline.The purpose of this conference is to strengthen exchanges between young scholars in China and theForschungszentrum Juelich, and jointly discuss the development direction and opportunities and challenges of nuclear fusion materials and engineering.

Professor Wu Yucheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of our University, served as the honorary chairman of the conference, Professor Luo Laima, Vice president of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Researcher Ding Rui, Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, served as the executive chairman of the conference.At the opening ceremony, Professor Wu Yucheng firstly welcomed and thanked the experts, scholars and graduate students who participated online and offline. He pointed out that Hefei University of Technology has established a long-term and stable cooperative relationship withForschungszentrum Juelich. Experts and scholars attending the conference, have carried out in-depth exchanges and cooperation withForschungszentrum Juelich. He hoped to take this conference as a new opportunity to further deepen the connotation of cooperation and expand the effectiveness of cooperation. At the same time, he hoped that young teachers and students are committed to the development of national fusion, learn from each other and make common progress, and strive to enhance the international influence of China's fusion.

More than 80 experts and scholars from Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southwest Institute of Nuclear Industry, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China Academy of Engineering Physics, Anhui University, Guangzhou University,Forschungszentrum Juelichand other units attended the conference.During the period, 16 high-level academic invitation presentations were held, covering the latest research progress in numerical simulation of nuclear materials, plasma physics and fusion engineering. The report was rich in content and novel in views, which triggered heated discussions and exchanges among participants.

The seminar was jointly organized by the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Nonferrous Metal Materials and Processing of Hefei University of Technology, and the Engineering Research Center for High-performance Copper Alloy Materials and Forming Processing of the Ministry of Education and other research platforms. The conference strengthened the cooperation and exchanges between the scientific research team of our school and universities in China, and played a positive role in promoting the talent training and team building of our school.
