Dr Kiran is awarded a PhD degree in Dairy Microbiology by NDRI Deemed University in 2014 for her thesis entitled “Riboflavin operon characterization in lactobacilli”. Her area of interests is Lactic acid bacteria, food and nutrition, Probiotic and Prebiotics. Dr. Kiran was adjudged the “Outstanding Oral Presenter” at 7th Asian Conference at Lactic Acid Bacteria held on 6-8 September, 2013 at Indian habitat centre, New Delhi. She also happened to attend workshop on “Hands on Phenotypic Microarray for new insights in Microbial Study” from 25th to 26th Sep, 2013 organized by Singapore Society for Microbiology and Biotechnology at National University of Singapore” as an invited candidate. She has also been conferred Best Poster Presentation Award at National Conference BFHDM at NIFTEM, Sonepat, Haryana, India on 15-16 Nov, 2013. She has been to University of Aberdeen for her Poster Presentation for Rowett-INRA 2014 Conference (co-hosted by ISAPP) “Gut Microbiology: from sequence to function”, at Aberdeen, Scotland, UK on 16-19 June, 2014. She is recipient of International travel grant under Non-ICMR scientists programme for the year 2014. Further, she also happened to deliver an Oral presentation for “International Seminar on Pharmaceutical Science and Technology” at Padjadjaran University at Bandung, Indonesia held from 16-19 Sep, 2014. She has attended this year the Annual meeting organized by International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP) as an oral speaker for Late braking News at Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA (May 18- 21, 2015) . Attended 2nd International Conference on Nutraceuticals and Nutrition Supplements held on July 18-19, 2016 Bangkok, Thailand. The scientific relevance of her research work seems to be duly recognized by the international scientific community as Dr. Kiran has been able to publish research papers in Frontiers in Microbiology, Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, LWT-food Science and Technology, and 2 peer reviews in Microbial biotechnology and Critical reviews in food science and nutrition, 10 popular articles, 6 research abstracts, 5 technical articles in compendiums and 14 NCBI partial 16s rRNA sequences. Her PhD thesis has been awarded “Best Thesis award” and Director’s Gold medal in dairy processing group during the thirteenth convocation of NDRI Deemed University in 2015.
